TL;DR: Toothpaste makers use precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC) as a mild abrasive and viscosity aid. Chemical & Mineral Industries Pvt. Ltd. (CMIPL), based in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, supplies PCC Vical-D for toothpaste, made for purity and particle control, from its own kilns with a combined capacity of 1,200 TPD.
What PCC does in toothpaste
PCC is an ultrafine synthetic calcium carbonate made by chemical precipitation. In toothpaste it is used as a viscosity aid and a mild abrasive. Because it is built by synthesis rather than by milling rock, its particle size and purity can be controlled, which matters for a product that goes in the mouth.
What oral care formulators ask of a PCC supplier
Gentle abrasion: fine, controlled particles that clean without scratching enamel.
Purity: a clean mineral with no unwanted residues.
Whiteness: a bright, consistent colour in the paste.
Batch consistency: the same behaviour in every lot, so continuous paste lines do not need re-tuning.
Reliable delivery: supply that does not stall production.
Ask any supplier for a technical data sheet covering these points for the exact grade, and test it in your own formulation.
PCC Vical-D from CMIPL
CMIPL supplies PCC Vical-D to the food, pharma and cosmetic industries and for toothpaste. CMIPL's PCC is made for purity and particle control. Share the particle size and purity you need and the team will confirm what can be supplied. See the PCC in pharmaceuticals page and the PCC product page.
How it is made
CMIPL calcines limestone into quick lime, slakes it, and carbonates the slurry to precipitate PCC, which is filtered and dried to a pure white powder. 100% of the CO2 released in calcination is reused in this step.
Supply and quality
CMIPL operates three lime kilns in Boranada, Jodhpur, with a combined capacity of 1,200 TPD. It was the first PCC company certified under ISO 9001:2008 and is ZED Certified by the Ministry of MSME of India.
How to order
Pricing is quoted per order, based on specification, volume and packaging. Contact CMIPL with your formulation and monthly volume to request technical data sheets. For cost drivers, see precipitated calcium carbonate price per ton.
Frequently asked questions
Does CMIPL supply PCC for toothpaste?
Yes. CMIPL supplies PCC Vical-D for toothpaste, where PCC acts as a viscosity aid and a mild abrasive, and for food, pharma and cosmetic uses.
What does PCC do in toothpaste?
It is used as a viscosity aid and a mild abrasive.
Why use PCC instead of ground limestone?
Ground limestone is milled rock. PCC is made by synthesis, which gives more control over particle size, purity and consistency.
Can I get PCC with a specific particle size?
CMIPL makes PCC for purity and particle control. Share the particle size you need and the team will confirm what can be supplied.
Where is CMIPL's PCC made?
CMIPL is based in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, with three lime kilns at Boranada and a combined capacity of 1,200 TPD.
How is PCC priced?
CMIPL does not publish fixed prices. Each order is quoted based on specification, volume and packaging.
